This Button Wednesday is about World's Largest Button Mosaic according to Guinness World Records. They state: "The largest button mosaic measures 720 ft² (66.89 m²), containes 296,981 buttons and was made at Maritime Square, Tsing Yi District, Hong Kong, for the "Springroll • Love • Mosaic" project between 23 and 28 July 2006." I found that intriguing and searched for the mosaic on the net, and found some great pictures of it on Flickr.

Tsing Yi is an island in the urban area of Hong Kong, to the northwest of Hong Kong Island and south of Tsuen Wan. The island has extended drastically by reclamation along almost all its natural shore. Three major bays or harbours in the northeast have been completely reclaimed for new towns. Tsing Yi means "dark clothes", but is also a kind of fish, probably blackspot tusk fish, once abundant in nearby waters. People named the island after the fish. So, that's where the fish are coming from in the Maritime Square shopping mall.

It is Wednesday again, so it's BUTTON DAY on my blog !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Button Wednesday is about a dog named Buttons. He is made by Suzanne Noll, an animal and nature inspired, ceramic and mosaic artist. Buttons is fearsome and beautiful at the same time. I simply love that dog !
Buttons is handmade from high-fire clay with various glazes without the use of any molds, making this an original work of art. The mosaic is of steel balls and ceramic buttons, while on the collar hangs an antique key. His whiskers are made of copper wire with silver plated balls at the tips.
If you love Buttons, go and have a look at Suzanne's other creations in her web shop Animal Instincts Art and her Etsy shop animalinstincts.

It is Wednesday again, so it's BUTTON DAY on my blog. It would be great if you could do the same; make your Wednesday a button day too. Have you seen a lovely, beautiful, stunning, crazy button or button-related thingy, or did you make something with a button / buttons, or did you even make buttons yourself, blog about it on your blog on Wednesday, and give the link here via Mister Linky at the end of this post.
Last week's Button Wednesday continues, albeit a bit different .... I found also a lot of pictures of plates decorated with or around buttons, and this Button Wednesday will be around these wonderful finds. The plate above is from Lucy Oldfield on flickr; she made this button plate as the finial piece for a project called "over 65 Project" where the brief was to get to know an over 65 year old and to do a piece of work relating to them. I love how it turned out !
The next one is made by Heather on flickr; she makes lots of lovely plates, but this one seemed to be the most appropriate here and now.
The above plate is made by Chris Emmert who is a fantastic mosaic artist, also with a lovely shop on Etsy. It is called Moorish Tray and is made from recycled dinner plates, glass tiles, and an old coat button in the center.

This beautiful art piece is from Deborah Prince. She used some of her grandmothers' buttons on both sides of her family and her mom's old buttons, and filled in some blank spaces with a few store bought buttons. The frame is also vintage and so are the plates. She also used two vintage china lids. What can I say ? I think this is a real masterpiece !
And I am in love with this funny picture of Solveig on flickr :)))
And last but not least, this lovely button plate that you can make for yourself following this turorial from June Pfaff Daley. Isn't that a great idea ?
!!!!!!!!!! If you have something for The Button Wednesday, give Mister Linky your name and the link to your button post !!!!!!!!!!!!!
