Monday Mood Board : Hydrangea

The Hortensias or Hydrangeas are starting to blossom here; I love them. And they are very succesful in my garden. I even think about exchanging my roses, that are always full of plant louse, for hortensia. Also I found out that there are many varieties, so a mixed variety Hortensia garden looks nice to me. Monday Mood Board: Bark

This morning I ordered some cropped bark for my garden and they brought me 20 big sacks one hour ago. But when I opened the first sack it was no bark at all..... It was humus, although the sack said bark. Phoned them and tried to explain in my worst German (because I was agitated) what was wrong; took me 30 minutes ! Grrrrrrr I hate that. Now I am waiting.... hoping that they come soon and change my sacks :) Therefore, some barky items from four of our European Street Team members on Etsy to get me unstressed again :)

Monday Mood Board: Gardening

We have such gorgeous weather here in the north of Germany these days; lots of sun, no wind, warm and, above all, no rain !!! So, I had to work in the garden this weekend, and ..... I strained a muscle in my back :( I definitely not become younger in time. I was at a fair last Saturday, but was rained and blown away with my tent. At 4 o'clock I phoned my hubby and told him "enough is enough", can you pick me up ? So, not a very successful sales event :(( To see even more rain, here some pictures from our European Street Team sellers on Etsy !

Monday Moodboard: Weeds

This weekend I fought the weeds in my garden. I overdid it a bit.... Had already pain in my right elbow from the PC and the sewing, and yesterday the pain became very severe. Could not sleep at all last night. Can't do a thing with my right arm now :(( So, I decided that weeds are beautiful ! Our European Street Team sellers on Etsy do show that clearly !

Monday Moodboard: Grapes

This weekend I did a lot of work in the garden because the sun was shining. I cleaned, clipped and pruned. Except for the wine grapes, they are new in my garden and I have no idea how to prune them. Tidbits : Garden Animals

A short update about the animal life in my garden.
I saw a stunning green insect who was definitely sunning on my towel; looked it up in my insect book and found out it's called a Heteroptera bug in English, wants in Dutch and Wanzen in German.


When I was picking berries, the earth next to me was suddenly moving; a mole was coming out of it. He must have been very deaf because he kept on digging when I was standing there. I even shouted to hubby to bring me the camera, what he did, but then finally the mole felt something and speeded away in his hole. So this is afterall all I could get from him. I had never seen a live mole above the earth before.....
And lastly some hot love on the garden pavement.

Tidbits : Gardening

The beans in my garden are growing explosively, so I have been picking beans and peas the whole day. And then cleaning them in the kitchen. Peggy was sitting next to me and ate all the peas that sprang away.

Never had so much harvest !

Tidbits : Garden and Brooding 3

A short update about the garden and the broody birds in it.
The swallow babies have grown enormously; we have the suspicion that they still stay near the nest at night. And we think that the parents prepare a second brood....


When we sat in our pavillion, we got a funny tiny visitor who was not afraid of us at all; she is called a goldcrest.

And the garden is finally attracting some butterflies; we have this year much less butterflies than last year.

And finally something that's not everyone's taste, a burying beetle (a cousin of the Egyptian scarabea); the burying beetle buries dead mice into the soil and lays its eggs on them, so that its kids have a nice welcome in this world.
